Only licensed practitioners are permitted to have control of the administration of bankruptcies or Part X agreements. These persons are registered through ITSA and are referred to as registered trustees.

Administrators for Part IX agreements are referred to as debt agreement administrators (DAAs), and have different obligations and responsibilities.
